Since I took a part-time position as a lighting supervisor on a feature film being developed in Unreal Engine 5.1, I drive to Brussels 3 days a week now. A few weeks ago, we finally got our first sunshine-with-a-spring-vibe-to-it here in Belgium, and about a third through my drive to Brussels, I always spot a hill to my left, with gigantic wind turbines behind it; which then inspired me to do this scene.
Sometimes I have a really strong idea of what I want to create, but sometimes, like now, I just have a hint of an idea; and then the fun part once Unreal is open, is to figure out what exactly it is that I'm making and how the shots will fit together.
This was also the first time I used only Da Vinci Resolve, for editing as well as color correcting, instead of After Effects. I'll probably not switch over completely, or maybe I will. It took me 39 seconds to render an uncompressed Prores from Da Vinci; AFX could never. Adobe, be better.
May these shots give you a hint of the summer to come :)
