"Why did the Spider cross the road?" - scene in Unreal Engine 4.26 (with Megascans Trees)

It's a treacherous and dangerous path that lies ahead of this tiny spider making its way through the forest. Cars on the road! Falling trees! No issue for this little guy.

Just when I was about to disconnect from my PC for the holidays, Quixel came with the best Christmas gift one could ask for: Megascans Trees.
So I just had to dive into that.

I went back to Unreal Engine 4.26 for this one! I've encountered some issues with UE5 and foliage and I didn't really feel like going up against those issues for this project so I just went with the old 4.26 with Raytracing enabled. 4.26 and not 4.27 for if I wanted to update the project to a 5.0 EA project to check the differences.

I bought the spider model on Sketchfab. Unfortunately I am not such a great modeler and animator that I could have made that myself in the short amount of time that I wanted to spend on this project. I did howerver have a lot of fun with setting up a subsurface shader for the spider in Unreal that really makes it feel more alive, when it interacts with all the lights.

And the Megascans Trees? Don't get me started, man. These things are so awesome and I can't wait for more additions and to see where it goes in the future.

I hope you may enjoy this little guy's journey through the forest. Hopefully it may inspire you to create or dream yourself :)
