A little breakdown of a new Unreal Engine environment that I created in the past week. The goal here was to sell the idea of scale, something I find quite interesting to try and achieve, and I'm fairly happy with how it turned out here, even though I would have liked for the statue to feel even larger.
For this scene I used a combination of Substance Painter and William Faucher's EasyMapper to retexture the statue photoscan with high quality rock textures that have some variety going on. I then also overlayed a selfmade material function to apply some moss/grass on top of the statue's normals to make it feel like it's been there for a long time.
The atmospherics were once again created with EasyFog and a first time use of EasyAtmos and then I attempted to elevate the image even more in Da Vinci by adding some god rays and doing some additional color grading.
